Flower Power Wedding Invitations- Fun & Bold

It's a rainy day here in Ohio today, so I wanted to post something cheerful and colorful! I came across these invitations I did for AJ and Craig from England this past summer. AJ wanted something really casual yet really bold in design and color. The first set of invitations were for both ceremony and reception-a little more sparkly and elaborate. The second set of invites were only additional guest invited to the reception only. This style was less decorated but still very fun! Enjoy!

Just imagine the thoughts these guest had when they received the invitations!? That was one heck of a party as AJ afterwards mentioned!

Meet a Blossom Accents Bride! Justyna and Dave Part Three

Almost three months went by from Justyna and Dave's beautiful wedding day! The weather was gorgeous-a perfect fall day with plenty of sunshine and light to capture amazing photographs.

Justyna was a stunning bride wearing a lovely A-line lace decorated Maggie Sottero gown with a unique birdcage veil head piece. The elegant look was finished with bold red lips enhancing Justynas contagious smile. Of course, Dave a handsome groom looked good in a slim fitting tux.

The calla lilies first seen in Justynas invitations, were carried over to her bouquet and center pieces at the reception. Simply elegant flowers really enhanced the mood of the evening.

We wish Justyna and Dave, our friends, a lifetime of happiness and love! Thank you both for sharing this special time with us at Blossom Accents!

California Central Coast Roadtrip

Recently my husband and I took a small vacation away from the day to day responsibilities and headed to California, specifically the central coast area. It was breathtaking and the ride among Highway 1 was just exhilarating!

We flew in to San Francisco and headed by car to Santa Barbara. A longer but beautiful drive. On the way we stopped by Monterey and Caramel by the Sea and drove the "the 17 mile drive". The prettiest piece of land you will ever drive!

When we got to Santa Barbara, we visited the area and also stopped by a cute little town in the valley called Ojai. Also Ventura Beach which is literally surfer haven, the waves were continuously active! Both areas had plenty for the foodies, shoppers or cafe goers!

California also has a few Old Missions which we visited on the way as well. All with unique history, beauty and charm.

On the way to our next destination San Louis Obispo, we stopped by a charming Danish town Solvang. Adorable street shops, boutiques, restaurants! The people are really friendly and hospitable! Oh and awesome Ebelskivers-danish pastry! Yummy!

In San Louis Obispo we drove to Pismo Beach. Had great seafood and watched the sunset.

Finally we drove to Big Sur along Highway 1. We took in the amazing views, watched elephant seals lay around on the beach, hiked beautiful trails with again, amazing views and finished the eveing with dinner at Nepenthe a restaurant on top of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean! Just one word- AWESOME!

The last day of our trip we relaxed in San Louis Obispo, toured the town and ended the evening with friends at a local winery drinking wine and watching the sun go down. Glorious!

Santa Barbara: Marina Beach Motel Nice staff and great location.

San Louis Obispo: Peach Tree Inn Nice staff, good breakfast and also good location! Cheap!

Pink and Brown-Carnation Wedding Invitations

Blossom Accents has been so busy lately, I hardly have time to blog anymore. But I really wanted to share with all of you one of the latest invitations I have mailed. Pink and brown carnation invitations made for a little babies christening. Anna, her mother has been a client of mine since a few years back. She's returned one more time to have these beauties custom made just for her daughters baptism. I think they came out wonderfully and a perfect compliment to such as special occasion!

Meet a Blossom Accents Bride! Kelly and Tim

Today I have the pleasure of sharing some fantastic photographs from one of our brides! Working with Kelly has been a blast! Her impeccable attention to detail is seen through out the reception to the ceremony.

It is obvious she adores sunflowers. The sunflower invitation from Blossom Accents was the first glimpse the guests received prior to the celebrations. On the day of the wedding, these cheerful blossoms are seen in the bouquet, the bridesmaids hair, centerpieces, wedding programs and much more. Fantastic!

Navy blue and bright yellow were the dominating colors of this wedding theme. The groom and groomsmen were sporting grey suits with alternating yellow and navy ties. The gorgeous bridesmaids wore really elegant knee length dresses with cute yellow heels!

The memories were captured in all sorts of fun places! Ice cream shop, rail road tracks, porches and much more. All photography was the fine work of Michael Rastall.

These cheerful and bold daisies are sure enough to brighten one's day when received in the mail! Kathleen found the original invitations here but she wanted something vertical instead. Her colors of choice were pink and orange hughes which complemented these blossoms perfectly! Embellished with a lovely satin hand tied ribbon!

Meet a Blossom Accents Bride! Justyna and Dave-Part Two

As promised for today, is the continuation from yesterdays Meet a Blossom Accents Bride! Justyna and Dave-Part One post. Justyna chose a very neutral and earthy color scheme for her wedding theme. I think this selection complements the couple wonderfully because of their love of the outdoors, nature and their down to earth personalities.

White calla lilies are her flowers of choice. I have to admit, I drew these twice because I was not satisfied with the first result! The whites, creams and soft colors were a little out of my comfort zone as I prefer to draw art in vivid strong colors. The final result was well worth the effort and I found a new "comfort zone".

Meet a Blossom Accents Bride! Justyna and Dave-Part One

Today I am thrilled to share a little romance and sweetness with all of you! Justyna has been a long time friend of mine. To be exact we have been friends for 18 years!! She fell in love with a true gentleman and her soulmate without a doubt! They are one of those couples where one glance at them is enough to determine they are made for each other! I wish them both a lifetime of happiness and love!

In Part One they share with us their memorable and loving story of engagement. Tomorrow I will share with you the process of their invitation design and the final product. And, sometime in October, I will share the wedding details and pictures of I am sure, will be an amazing day!

Proposal story

It was the day of our 5 year anniversary, 11-12-10 and Dave planned a walk in the park where we always hike and ride our bikes. We stopped at the overlook at the top of the valley, it was beautiful, the sun was setting and the fall colors below were just gorgeous in the sunlight. I had a feeling some thing was up, Dave was not acting himself, so I was waiting for possibly 'it', I had a feeling this was it, it had to be, this is the perfect set up! At one point he was kneeling down, (my heart racing) to tie his shoe! I gave up for a second when I heard him say on one knee of course "Justyna, I have a question for you, will you be my wife?" I was shocked and so happy that I ran down the stairs for a second, came back and we embraced each other for a good while. The night ended with a romantic anniversary and engagement dinner, we toasted to our love and happiness, it was the perfect night.

Recently Justyna was involved in a beautifully managed shoot which I thought would be nice to share on Wedding Blossoms!

The photography is by Kyle Espeleta. The images are captured beautifully and the craftsmanship is crisp. Glamour and romance are accentuated in this shoot. The make-up is just stunning by talented Natalia Chmielowiec. Striking deep pink lips on Justyna Rudny along with her dark hair looks really eye-catching! The natural beiges on Marta Skorupska bring out her naturally soft beauty. The styling was managed by two bright women Lucyna Gunia and Kasia Martinez. Sophisticated, elegant and glamourous!

Lilac and Pink Wedding-Table Cards and Thank You Cards

I love this artwork! It reminds me of a country folk design and a bit of a pretty china pattern. It's cheerful, playful and really fun! I love the bright and bold colors the bride Ekaterina chose for this suite, a little different than the first look here or here! Oh! Turquoise and Pink Wedding Inspiration with Carnations

Something new in the shop! Carnations! Just recently I hand drew these carnations and designed this wonderfully charming invitation suite. Like all of my drawings, they start with an emotion and a strong visual inspiration. I took some photographs of these fun blossoms and from there starts my design process.

Carnations are intriguing due to all the uniquely twisted and roughed petals. They were really fun to draw! I actually can't wait till another client comes to me with a different color of carnations to create! But for now, the pink carnations are here to stay combined with a pop of turquoise color! Soon to be available in the shop.

My Five Year Wedding Anniversary!

Just recently, I celebrated my five year wedding anniversary! I can hardly believe how quickly the time flies! But I guess, time flies when you are having fun. This is exactly what my husband and I have done for the last five years-HAVE FUN! I really believe this is the one major secret to a long and happy marriage. You need to find many opportunities to make memorable memories, to laugh with one another and and at each other. Life is too short to keep it so serious...

We took a quick little getaway to a small city near Cleveland, OH called Dellroy. We stayed in this cozy bed and breakfast with the most kind hosts. Overlooking a beautiful lake and surrounded with much urban charm- restaurants with surprisingly delicious food and wineries with amazing wine, museum and the most unique collection of buttons I have ever seen!! The Blossom Sisters!!

Just recently, my younger sister Dominika has moved in with my husband and I! Somehow, unfortunately we have been in a way separated for the past three years, which was truly sad to all of us. Finally the time has come when we again are able to share the special sister bond in so many fun and amazing ways!! And what better way to start then with cherry blossoms! Justyna, my other younger sister rode in from NY and we truly reunited!

Having a sister, and in my case TWO, is awesome in so many ways. I am the oldest, the one that is protective and devoted, sometimes described as "bossy" (whatever!). Justyna is the dreamer, the one who follows her passions and speaks her mind. Dominika the youngest , she is our delightful smile! Ever since I remember, her smile has always brightened my day! She is caring and affectionate.

We all possess different gifts, but the one we will always have in common is we all "have a sister". And there is nothing as special as a bond between sisters and no one or anything can really break this bond!

Poppy Wedding Invitations-Taking good product photographs

Just this last Christmas my husband bought me a lighting set! I was more excited than a little kid when I opened the big box! I think this officially makes me a "geeky wife"!? Anyways, I love the result. When running a business solely via internet, the picture quality is extremely important! They have to bright, as realistic as possible and creative. Slowly I am updating all the invitation suites from my portfolio.

This is the NEW picture using a lighting set and a SLR camera:

And this picture was taken with an SLR under natural light.

Big difference! In the first picture the colors are bright, realistic, vivid and eye catching. In the second picture the colors have a grey tone. The second picture does not pop and grab the viewer at all.

Return Address on Wedding Invitations

One of my clients recently asked how to address the return address on her wedding invitations envelopes. There are a few possible ways. First, if the wedding is a very traditional event for example when the bride's parents are hosting the event, then the return address should be the brides parents home address. Today, many couples are far from the traditional set ways and more contemporary. The names of the couple on the invitation envelopes with their address is recommended. The response envelope can include only the brides name. Below are a two examples:

Sunflower Wedding: Table Cards

It's a rainy day here in Ohio. On days like this I am either happy to know the forecast is gloomy because it's a good excuse to dedicate the day to work, cleaning the house or whatever else needs to be done. Or, right about now, in the beginning of March, I am missing the warm sun, the flowers and trees blooming, my bike rides or hikes in the parks, light clothes and long days! Yes, I want summer to be here already! But for now, we have a winter snow storm warning for tonight. So, I am turning things around and looking on the bright side as this smart individual...

Cherry Blossom Wedding Invitations

In part I of the Cherry Blossom project I presented to you the original drawing-hand drawn with color pencils. Now I will show the final product!

Cherry Blossom Wedding Invitation: bordered with a deep dark olive color green and a soft lilac color to add even more romanticism to the artwork. This drawing allowed me to be really flexible with the positioning of the blossoms on the cards-dropping from the top or peeking from the side. I am in love and just so anxious for spring to arrive!

On the Drawing Pad at Blossom Accents: Cherry Blossoms Part I

I am starting a new feature on the blog today called "On the Drawing Pad at Blossom Accents". I will show the process it takes to create an invitation at Blossom Accents starting with the sketch to the finished drawing and then to the final product. I hope you enjoy it!

When my client Maryanne contacted me about this project, I became really excited!! I have wanted to draw these blossoms but I was waiting for a right time and a push to actually draw them! They are small delicate blossoms which grow on short cherry trees around April and May. They are extremely beautiful to look at and adore! Some interesting fact about these blossoms which originated in China.

The flower symbolism associated with the cherry blossom is education. In China, the cherry blossom is also a symbol of feminine beauty. It also represents the feminine principle and love. In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolize the transience of life because of their short blooming times. Falling blossoms are metaphors for fallen warriors who died bravely in battle. source

When to Order Wedding Invitations?!

I have been asked several times in the past two months "When should I order my wedding invitations?" or "When should I mail my invitations?" So, here is a helpful timeline of the expected course of events when ordering from a custom stationery studio such as Blossom Accents.

Mostly I recommend to give your self time and most of all have fun ! Be bold, creative to create a glimpse of the wonderful event to come! And please don't stress!! If you think something can't be done-ask! :)

Bat Mitzvah Invitations at Blossom Accents!

I try to stay focused on weddings but I also receive many inquiries about other projects. One of them being Bat Mitzvah Invitations. I decided to add a Mitzvah Invitation line to my portfolio. Take a look here for complete details. Although I do not speak Hebrew, I would love to create invitations in the Hebrew language! The gerber daisies below are perfect for the 12 year old girl celebrating her Bat Mitzvah-coordinated in joyful orange and pink hughes.

Something unique I learned while making the Mitzvah Invitation suite and thought was very special was the addition of the phrase ב"ה to the top right corner of the Invitations, RSVP and Save the Dates Cards. It mean's "With God"s help". This is used when speaking of the future and wanting God's help in the Jewish religion.

White Orchid Wedding Invitations-First Design of 2011

THE White Orchids

White Orchids carry the meaning of love and beauty. I hope to create many designs this year of 2011 which elicit these two words in others thoughts and impressions. I think these orchids capture this feeling exactly.

Christmas is just around the corner! Everyone is running around getting last minute gifts and holiday trimmings. Many of my friends & family have had their Christmas tree up since Thanksgiving, but I like to wait until almost the last minute. We just bought one this weekend and it smells so nice in our apartment!

Below are some images from our tree. The big glass ornament is from Poland (we're I'm from). Actually it's from my Uncle's company Chemix where he produces and designs these lovelies! What do you think? Everything is hand-painted!!!

And here's another shot from the tree....

And below are polish Ginger cookies! This is a new Christmas tradition here in my household, inspired by my mother-in-law. The smell of ginger and honey fills the house and sets a warm and festive mood. The longer they last the better they taste!

Cool Find! Nature's Edge Farm Soaps!

A few months ago I bought a couple of these soaps from Nature's Edge Farm on Etsy and have been hooked since! For a few reasons, one being they are natural soaps. Have you ever noticed the Caress or Dove "soaps" in the store isles do not have the word "soap" anywhere on the packing? Instead it say's beauty bars, moisturizing bars or body bars. This is because they do not contain many of the essential ingredients soaps used to contain instead they contain cheap synthetic lathering agents and harsh chemicals which are not only bad for your skin but also not so great for our planet!

So, there is nothing more I appreciate than good old classic healthy products! Like these awesome soaps from Nature's Edge Farm. They use natural ingredients, they do not contain parabens nor phthalates, dyes or sulfates. They are made with skin nourishing oils and butters and are all cold-processed (not from pre-made base)-the best method of producing high quality soaps. Also contain shea butter and milk. How great is that!? And they ALL smell great and last much longer than regular beauty bars. Some of my favorites are apple harvest, white tea and ginger, and rose petal soap. But really, I love them all. These will make nice Holiday gifts! Once you've tried one of these lathery treasures, you will never be satisfied with store bought beauty bars!

Becky and Nathan got married in the historical town of Charleston, South Carolina. The exceptional setting is full of southern charm and beauty. The Thomas Bennett House was built around 1825 and has been restored to serve distinctive and elegant events with a most beautiful garden and tremendous architecture.

Courtney and I have been working on her Orchid Beauty stationery since August of 2009. Starting with her Save the Dates for her wedding which took place in gorgeous St.Lucia!! Then of course her invitations and Courtney couldn't resist to go ahead and get even more orchid beauties for the reception such as menus, programs, place cards and table cards. How did the two of you meet?

No fairytale story here! We met randomly on St. Patrick's Day (yes, before any drinking was done LOL!)
How did he propose?
In the typical nonchalant Kendall kind of way...2 days before Christmas (he said he couldn't wait any longer!) in the middle of our kitchen while I was putting away the groceries : )

Describe your wedding day in three words.

Blissful, colorful, and intimate (I had to narrow it down!! very hard to do!)

Describe the theme of the wedding.

Tropical chic!

Describe your wedding flowers.

GORGEOUS! fuchsia/purple orchids, fuchsia/green roses, purple/fuchsia alstromerias, green/purple anthuriums, green spider mums.

Most memorable moment of the day?

When our eyes met for the first time walking down the aisle at the ceremony.

What was the biggest challenge you faced when planning the wedding?

Planning it all online and from a distance. Destination weddings aren't necessarily any easier if you're someone who likes to see things in person first before making a decision.

The funniest moment?

Kendall climbing on benches right before the ceremony trying to get a sneak peek at me while I was waiting in the bridal car.

Suggestions to future brides.

It's all about you and your husband to be. Plan a wedding to satisfy yourselves and reflect your personalities. You can't please everyone. If you're passionate about your decisions you make and it makes you happy it will show. And it's all in the details, your guests will take notice!

What's in the near future for the two of you as a married couple?

Taking it day by day, being the best husband and wife we can be to each other, and nurturing our love for each other so we can grow old together.

Blossom Accents on Vacation!

This past weekend while returning from a very relaxing and joyful weekend in a cabin in the middle of spectacular forests in Poland, I spotted these breathtaking poppies. I just had to stop the car and take a few pics to retain the memory. It was a time well spent!

More budget mindful wedding invitations!

It seems like more and more brides are looking to save some money! Although many of my invitation suites start at $4.50 per each suite, I can surely work with my clients to decrease the costs!! All they have to do is give me a ring (1-888-233-6690) or drop me an e-mail (agnes@blossomaccents.com) and the options are practically endless! Many times the total price is reduced by more than 50%!!! So don't be shy-give it a try! :)

Below is the Hydrangea Pair Wedding Invitation. It includes three layers of paper, glitter accents in center of blossoms, hydrangea sketch on envelope and guest addressing.

And in the second example is the simpler version of the design. It includes only two layers of paper instead of three. The blossoms do not have glitter accents and the envelopes are without guest addressing and the hydrangea sketch.

There are so many Pro's of working with a custom stationery designer! You will have something unique! You can have something affordable! You can exchange pretty much endless questions and ideas with your designer and in turn the design will become something truly original!

Wedding Invitations on a Budget-Blossom Accents

I frequently get inquiries from brides about ways to cut down costs on the wedding invitations in my portfolio. Of course many times I am able to accommodate their wishes. Below I have pictured the Dogwood Wedding Invitations. The first is the original piece from the portfolio and the seconds are more budget friendly.

This invitation suite has many unique details. The artwork and text are printed on white, the blossoms are embellished with clear rhinestones. It is assembled against two other paper layers-brown and green. The RSVP card are also against another color layer. Matching metallic envelopes are included.

This set also features the dogwood artwork. It is printed on a single ivory color paper with single layered response card and matching envelopes. Also a lovely invitation and much cheaper!

With all this said, my word of advice for budget savvy brides is to call the designer and ask about different options. Many times we will gladly work with you and create fabulous invitations you'll love!

Anyone who's involved in the wedding industry or etiquette related business, will know who Emily Post is! The American etiquette expert of all times!!!

" leading authority on socially correct behavior, Emily Post provided solutions to social problems. With a name that became linked with proper manners in the minds of many, she was a successful author, newspaper columnist, and radio broadcaster" Reference

The amazing Emily Post died in 1960 at the age of eighty-six in her New York apartment. Since then, her daughter and then granddaughters have carried on her knowledge, tradition and legacy! Even to establish The Emily Post Institute.

Her granddaughter, Anna Post also visited the National Stationery Show to chat with fellow weddingzillas & papieristas! She even brought along one of her books and gave some lucky attendees a book signing! And yes, I was one of them! She was very sweet to sign the book using my polish name, Agnieszka. Thanks Anna! I am sure this book will serve as a great resource during my unexpected "get-togethers"!

Lucky me, this past weekend I attended the National Stationery Show in New York City! I have to say, it was worth every second! I am inspired, I am rejuvenated, I am ready to to create fabulous floral stationery for all of you blossom loving peeps!

During my trip I attended a very informative seminar given by the amazing Stacie Francombe from GetMarried and afterwards I even had the honor to chat with her about various topics. It was awesome to hear her feedback! Thank YOU Stacie!

Also, I was able to attend an interesting seminar with Darcy Miller the editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine! The seminar was about the latest bridal stationery trends of 2010. She offered some surprising statistics from bides-to-be! Thank YOU!

What's been happening at Blossom Accents?! This is my first post in May-I can't believe how fast time flies when you're having FUN!

Well to begin I've been putting together and packaging up invitaitons of course... look at his endless line up of Dogwood Invitations...

But most of all, I've been involved with creating a few custom orders one of them being-Cymbidium Orchids! In eloquent rich purple and lavender tones, with an intriguing magenta center! Below you will see the original pencil drawing crated by me.

Anemone Blossom as Wedding Flower

The Anemone Blossom is truly an intriguing flower. It is one of the only few flowers with a black center. The flowers pictured above are white, but these lovely flowers come in colors of yellows, pinks, purples and more! They're known to be windflowers because of their ability to spread seeds in the wind and it's beauty! Above is a elegant black and white collection of wedding bouquets and a cake to top it off.

Not too long ago, I reconnected with an old friend. She she told me about how she found my website BlossomAccents.com and was pleasantly surprised but not completely. She said to her friend "What did Agnes always draw in art class??".... she said "Flowers"! Of course what else?!

I've been a lover of flowers always and forever. There is just something powerfully wonderful about them, rather it's a bouquet of blooms or a single elegant stem, flowers are always enchanting! An inspiration to me at all times! I put together some personal photos of mine which touched me in some way, and yes that is me in the middle alongside some colorful blooms!

The dogwood wedding invitations are a HIT here at Blossom Accents! Danielle contacted me and asked about using a different color scheme from my original design (view here). Her colors of choice are: pale pinks, ivory, light green and golds. I myself am a "bold and rich color" type of artist but working with this soft toned palette was a nice and pleasant change. I feel this design is fresh and light... gorgeous!

Recently here at Blossom Accents, one of my clients has pushed me into a variety of creative projects! This is one of my favorite things about being a custom invitation design studio! Here at Blossom Accents, I have been extra busy with all sorts of projects. Dogwoods for Siobhan, Lilies for Ashley, and Hydrangeas for Amanda. All these projects are crafted and assembled with passion and love for creativity and beauty! Dogwoods symbolize "undiminished love", lilies symbolize "respect" and hydrangeas symbolize "understanding". Who ever knew that flowers spoke a language? This is why I particularly focus my projects on florals. Because each blossom signifies something really special and meaningful in it's own unique sense. Quinceanera Party Invitations

Recently at Blossom Accents I've been creating some fun and colorful invitations for a Quinceanera Party Celebration. A spanish custom of celebrating a young girl transition into a young lady at the age of fifteen. One of the most important components of this celebrations is a "thanksgiving Mass". A beautiful young lady arrives in a glorious gown surrounded with family and friends. A lovely custom I think!!!

Orchid Wedding Invitations

Orchids are one of the more popular and one of the more pricey wedding flowers. So why not and give your guests a stem of orchids in the mail and substitute with something less pricey for the reception.

I really enjoyed creating this set because the colors chosen by the bride are light and bold at the same time. The mulberry adds some contrast with the light silver color. Valentine's Day Cards

I love Valentine's Day! Although I have to shyly admit my marriage is a daily Valentine's Day! I am extremely lucky!!! But that does not mean we don't do something special and romantic for each other on this particular day. Hmmm... what do to do this year??

I created what I think a very unique and dramatic Valentine's Day Card. It has a very whimsical and passionate feel with splatters of deep red powder flakes throughout the card. Write me an e-mail if you wish to purchase a card for your special someone! Enjoy!!!

Baptismal Party Place Cards and Table Cards once again...

What's happening at Blossom Accents!!??

Recently the studio is busy with hydrangeas! These beauties are a lot of work due to all those tiny yet gorgeous flowers all bunched up in one big puff! This process looks a little something like this....

It starts with me drawing the blossoms by hand with fine art color pencils. This is actually the easy part! The hard part is the composition, colors used, blossom view etc.

Sketching, drawing, erasing, hand cramping :).... but all so worth it!!

Sometimes I even get a hand from clients!!! Notice the fabric swatch, the save the date copy and there's more where that came from. All these little inspirations then evolve into an invitation! Now that's a custom made invitation for ya! Everything is done with heart, love and passion for art!!!

And the artwork comes to an end. Peaches, pinks and moss greens were the foundation colors of this design. Now it is time for phase two.... the INVITATION!!! Thanks for looking. Enjoy!!!

Hydrangea Wedding Invitation

Currently in the studio of Blossom Accents this lovely hydrangea lightened up the gloomy and snow filled weather around in Ohio!!! I just love this artwork!!! It totally has the feel of a hydrangea... big, bold, and fluffy! This particular one is in blue/violet tones with some glitter sparkle for an extra WOW effect!

My next hydrangea project for a client will be in warm peaches.... stay tuned for details!

Here is a sneak peak into the upcoming hydrangea invitation design!

This blossom is so intricate, that I decided to take my time with this one. I think it was well worth it. I am much more happy with this artwork than the prior hydrangea I drew about a year ago. This one has the deserved bounce and fluff this particular blossom needs!

Yes, I took a month of from blogging, new projects, and any major orders from clients! And it was a much needed R & R for me! Went to visit family in Europe and I had a great time. Now it is time to get back to work and start the New Year in full swing for the upcoming wedding season!

I want to thank all the brides from 2009 for working with me and allowing me to create their invitations! And most of all, for inspiring so many lovely designs within me! THANKS girls!

Also, I am looking forward to 2010! To working with new brides and I am extremely curious to see what this year will bring to Blossom Accents!

So this is a sweet follow up to a recent post. Couple weeks back I posted a drawing I completed. This artwork has now evolved into a blossoming invitation. H1N1 Victims: Healthy to Death's Door in One Week - ABC News

I know this blog post has nothing to do with flowers or weddings, but I think it's of tremendous importance. Yesterday Nightline featured a story from University Hospitals Case Medical Center describing the toll this virus can take on literally anyone. FYI this hospital is my place of employment! Dr. Blitz is truly a hero and extremely brave for taking on these difficult cases!

I have always been somewhat suspicious of getting vaccines, especially ones which are new on the market. But after seeing this story on Nightline, I am rethinking my decision not to get the H1N1 Vaccine. Many people are sick, have been sick or will be sick with the H1N1 virus. Some will only feel the typical flu symptoms yet some will be affected far more and will need to be hospitilized! Although you may feel fine, your loved one may have a far worse outcome. One way to stop this effect is to get the vaccination.

Blossom Accents: A new design in progress!

One of my more recent art projects were these charming colorful blossoms! I particularly enjoy the accents of colors surrounding the florals as an outline. And I love the trail of dots in the most unexpected places. It has a country & folk feel, thus the title will be "Country Beauties".

Recently I finished making this for Julie from Canada and I am still in awe about this design! I have to admit I would have never thought of this design by myself partly because I love bold and rich colors. The colors here are chosen by the bride. Light tones with some dramatic brown accents and a very intriguing envelope liner. This is why I love to work with clients on a personal basis, they lead me to new paths, ideas and unique projects! Royal blue and yellow colors as a theme for a wedding party seems like a fabulous color combination! So I gathered some images to put together a little board of the lovely possibilities. I especially love the bouquet of sunflowers with blue blossom accents and a gorgeous light yellow bridesmaids dress... it seems so light and feminine. Add some lemon zest to a dessert table as a centerpiece or simply as a snack full of Vitamin C! Enjoy!

Finally after being in denial and not wanting to say goodbye to summer (mind you I feel like it never really came here in Ohio) I was able to find some beauty during a warm fall sunny day at a local foods market. I always appreciate a local market! These merchants strive to provide their customers with healthy, fresh and seasonal fruits and veggies that grocery stores really can not compete with! This market even does more... it was full of seasonal decor, colors of fall and fall spirit! Enjoy!

Something different today on my blog. Lately the weather here in Ohio sucks! Rainy cloudy days always get me thinking and sometimes to an extent where I become my own worst self critic! Wishing I was this, hoping I wasn't that, dreaming of IT... the list is endless! So I take a step back and read this quote...

It seems like here in Ohio, spring never really ended, summer really never came and fall is here extra early with winter season knocking on the door!!! I know this sounds really terrible but looking outside my window right now, I see rain with heavy gray clouds and I have not seen sunshine for four days!!! The heat is on, my hot tea is near my reach and yes, I took out the winter sweater collection! It's only OCT 1st! Mexico City Travel

Recently my husband and I took a short trip to Mexico City. We were both surprised by the deep culture of the Mexican people still representing the Aztec culture back thousands of years ago. But also the beauty of Spanish influenced architecture such as two images below. This city offers a huge variety of activities for any traveller! Although I have to say, I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of english speaking individuals. Spanish would have come in handy, but we were able to do with out... maybe I will take up Spanish??...
