RSVP Card Etiquette

Since a wedding is considered a formal event, it is custom to include a reply card with your invitation. There are a few simple rules with RSVP cards. The reply date should be about 2-4 weeks prior to your event. But check with your caterers and venues for the recommended time. You also want to have enough time to organize a seating chart.

As to wording of your reply card, there is no "correct way".

There are more formal ways of wording, such as "The favor of a reply is requested by..." or a more casual way of wording, such as "We look forward to celebrating with you!". You can also include a RSVP note at the bottom of your invitation instead of including a RSVP card at all.

If your guests still have not responded, it's okay to give them a call and ask for their RSVP's via mail.

Return Address on Wedding Invitations

One of my clients recently asked how to address the return address on her wedding invitations envelopes. There are a few possible ways. First, if the wedding is a very traditional event for example when the bride's parents are hosting the event, then the return address should be the brides parents home address. Today, many couples are far from the traditional set ways and more contemporary. The names of the couple on the invitation envelopes with their address is recommended. The response envelope can include only the brides name. Below are a two examples:
